Schizandra Berry for Stress

Schizandra (or Schisandra) Chinensis: Also known as Five Flavor Berry is in the magnolia family.  Historically it is an important herb in Chinese Medicine.  It is a harmonizing, balancing herb with an interesting blend of all flavors: sweet, sour, bitter, salty and pungent. It supports lung qi and kidney qi and tonifies heart qi thus affecting the central nervous system and quieting the sympathetic responses as a result of stress. In addition, the herb supports the immune system, endochrine, respiratory, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems. Taoist masters recommend Schizandra for uplifting energy, sharpening the mind, enhancing libido, preventing aging, and reducing stress and mental fatigue.

 

It has energetic components which support and enhance the connection of the 3 treasures:

1.  "Jing" (Original Essence)

2.  "Qi" (Life Energy)

3. "Shen" (Spiritual Essence)

 

In Russia, Schizandra has been used as a tonic to reduce hunger, thirst and exhaustion.  In sports to increase physical activity without stress from heat or cold. It has been used as a neuroprotector from heavy metal intoxication, irradiation, inflammation and skin burns. In addition it also helps to improve night vision.
